"I only swam for gold" - learn a patient’s story |

My swimming adventure began with PE lessons in primary school, which took place at a swimming pool. The interest in this type of sport slowly grew to become my passion, so my parents enrolled me in the City Swimming Club. I participated in both regional and national swimming competitions for children and adolescents and I gradually became a professional swimmer.
Apart from talent, this sport requires a good deal of hard work, which is why all the contestants have to constantly train in order to improve their results. I did my best, practising swimming under the tutelage of my coach in a professional sports club. When the time came to take on more serious challenges, the trainings were even more demanding and more frequent.
I was short-sighted and although my refractive error was not a severe one, my coach noticed that blurry vision was an obstacle for me, as it negatively affected my swimming results. In order to boost my agility, concentration and speed, he suggested that I had a laser vision correction surgery. Entering a serious competition requires the elimination of any impediments, even the slightest ones. If there was a chance that laser vision correction could help me achieve my professional goals, I decided to make an appointment as soon as possible. I could not let my refractive error prevent me from winning gold. Gold is what I keep preparing for and I am going to swim for it!
I made an appointment for a preliminary qualifying examination in a one-day-procedure mode. It lasted approximately an hour. The doctor decided to qualify me for the surgery, so after a few-hour break I came back to the clinic to undergo the procedure. It was indeed a very quick, painless and safe way of getting rid of my refractive error. Although the convalescence period lasted a month, a week after the surgery I could return to mild dry training. Intensive physical effort is not conducive to corneal healing as it causes increased intraocular pressure. A month after the procedure I resumed swimming with the comfort of perfect visual acuity!
Laser vision correction improves vision quality, which in turn translates to better results of physical activity. If you are a sportsperson with a vision defect – consider having a laser vision correction procedure. Call us or contact us through a form available under the Contact tab and make an appointment for the one-day procedure (the examination and the surgery on the same day). Fill in the online Preliminary Qualification Form in order to pre-verify whether laser vision correction will be a suitable solution for you.
