Glasses for working in front of the computer

16.05.2014

People usually extensively use computers and other electronic devices with displays without thinking what influence those devices may have on our health and our eyes. In 1994, American Academy of Ophthalmology defined the CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome).

What is CVS ?

It is ‘a temporary condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer display for protracted, uninterrupted periods of time’. How many times did you happen to spend the whole day in front of the computer? Dried eyes, redness, soreness and headache are all connected to CVS.

How to deal with it?

During working in front of a computer our blinking, causing moisturising of the eyes, happens five times less often, thus using moisturising drops is advised (Artificial Tears). We would like to encourage you to read the article here.

Staring at one point (monitor) causes eye muscles to numb, that’s why making a short break to let the muscles rest is a good idea. More about eye relaxing practices.

Balanced diet is crucial in leading a healthy life style. Same as our body need power of vitamins so do our eyes, read more here.

None of modern LCD/TFT monitors are capable of protecting our eyes from the side effects of prolonged work and extensive effort of visual system. In order to protect our eyes, even when not suffering from vision error, we should wear glasses with a protective layer. Protective ‘zero’ glasses. Best ‘health’ effects could be achieved through hybrid of antireflex (AR) and antistatic (EMI) layers. This hybrid is recommended by ophthalmologists especially to those suffering from allergies. It prevents dust particles (which are vectors of allergens) from gathering and sticking to the surface of the eye. It effects in lesser evaporation of tear film thus improving your comfort during extensive work.
